Merit America is a non-profit that has been named by the New York Times as “a glimpse of the hybrid future of training programs for the disadvantaged.” Our fast and flexible programs are designed to work for underemployed and unemployed adults - who can learn while they balance work and family. We combine on-demand online learning with coaching and peer support (delivered in-person or virtually) to create the most effective, scalable model in the field.  Our goal is to build the most effective, large-scale education-to-employment program in the country, and​ we have the ambitious goal of reaching ​10,000 learners annually and driving $1B in aggregate wage gains by 2024.

Today’s challenge is about more than getting Americans back to work: it is about creating pathways to higher-paying, more resilient careers in order to build a more equitable future as the economy recovers. Now, more than ever, we must rally behind the tens of millions of American adults who are unemployed or stuck in low-wage jobs in pursuit of family-sustaining, recession-resilient careers. 

To that end, Merit America is looking for a Sourcing  Talent Acquisition Partner


The Opportunity

The founding role of the Sourcing Talent Acquisition Partner will ensure that Merit America attracts a diverse team of superbly talented team members as we scale. They will instill a healthy obsession with sourcing talent and best-in-class talent acquisition practices. They will design and execute a short and long term strategy to ensure there is a large pool of talent at every level within Merit America for open, predicted and potential seats at Merit America as we scale.

The Sourcing Talent Acquisition Partner will sit on the People Team, which is led by Crystal Barcelo, and will report directly to the Founding Director of Talent Acquisition.  The TA Partner will work primarily with the People Operations (POPs) team while supporting all teams across Merit America.


Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Sourcing Talent Acquisition Partner  will include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Develop a headhunting and long-term cultivation approach to source high-potential passive and active candidates 
  • Develop differentiated marketing messages and matches to internal and external sourcing channels to maximize reach with qualified candidates.
  • Design and implement regular opportunities for high-quality candidates to learn more about Merit (e.g., host info/outreach sessions, attend career fairs, design social media moments to attract a wider candidate pool)
  • Design and execute systematic and personalized follow through after every outreach event including compilation, analysis and reporting of outreach data to drive action and investment
  • Build a robust database of names of potential coach and non-coach network professionals
  • Execute complex project including the launch an effective external referral program and drive our internal referral program

Job Postings

  • Within the first 3 months, develop and begin implementing a plan to meet outreach goals (goals to be specifically defined including quality, diversity,) with a robust pipeline of top talent for immediate open roles
  • Maintain a systematic approach to ensuring Merit’s job postings are visible to potential candidates. 
  • Follow up with potential applicants from selected job boards
  • Guide candidates through first stage within the selection process 

Trusted Partner

  • Write and send candidate emails to update on Merit America news and encourage strongest candidates  to apply
  • Conduct phone calls with potential candidates to solicit interest with Merit America
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to ensure clarity on headhunting
  • Build/expand networks on behalf of Merit America with mission aligned candidates

Compensation, Benefits and Start Date

This position is full time

Salary Range (based on relevant experience): $82,600

Location:  Remote
